OnePlus Nord is not coming with an official IP rating, but it has undergone some tests to ensure some protection against water. The phone will be released in two price ranges, with no official IP rating, as revealed by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei in an interview. The launch of OnePlus Nord is almost a week away. While much is still unknown about the phone, Pei shared some details about the upcoming budget-friendly smartphone with a popular YouTuber. Some details were shown, including one color option, a gray variant, which was teased by the company in a recent teaser video. And another is a green variant. OnePlus Nord will have curved edges on both the back and a flat screen.
In the video, dual front cameras and quad rear cameras can be clearly seen, along with a speaker grille and a USB Type-C port at the bottom. During the interview, Pei mentioned that the initial plan was for a separate camera setup.
But the company decided to do something to refresh the design, leading to a priority shift towards a vertical camera layout for Nord, similar to flagship OnePlus series. Pei also revealed that Nord will not have an official IP rating. However, during the manufacturing process, the company ensured that the design can withstand 30 seconds of water submersion up to 30 meters. Therefore, it is safe to say that Nord will occasionally survive accidental spills.
OnePlus Nord will be unveiled in India on July 21, and pre-orders will begin on Amazon this afternoon at 1:30 PM.
